Steam Ploughing and Threshing

On selected special event days you can see steam ploughing and threshing in action.

Just a quick note to say thank you for an excellent day on Saturday. I was particularly impressed by the way everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to keep you informed of what would happen next.

Steam Ploughing

During the late 19th century, the two engine method of steam cultivating was developed where an engine was located at each side of a field and the plough or cultivator was dragged between them using the cable drums under the engines' boilers. Occasional demonstrations are carried out by our two ploughing engines, the Fowler BB class Prince and the unique John Allen & Sons (Oxford) Ltd  engine.

Steam Threshing

The steam threshing process is represented by a threshing machine that would be driven by a traction engine.
