The Narrow Gauge Railway, also known as the Quarry Railway, is a 2 foot gauge railway running for approximately 1.5 miles through woodland and fields. The journey starts at the station near the fairground, from where the train climbs steeply up a bank past the grassy carpark on the left and woodland on the right. It then meanders along a pretty woodland route until it breaks out into a clearing by the Sandstone Quarry. The train pauses for visitors to take in spectacular views across the Sussex Weald before continuing through more woodland and alongside fields, where our shire horses and ponies often graze. Finally, having completed a loop of the woodland, the train reverses the short distance down the incline to come to a stand back at the station.
The Narrow Gauge Railway has two steam locomotives and one diesel as well as an assortment of passenger carriages and goods wagons. Four of the passenger coaches came from the Ramsgate Cliff Railway following it's closure. A fifth coach was built on site to the same design.

The train stops at the quarry, from where a tremendous view over the Sussex Wield can be seen (weather permitting!!). The photo doesn't do it justice as it was taken in poor light conditions and without a wide-angle lens. |

On the other side of the train a demonstration of quarry equipment is being set up. Sidings are being installed, an incline will be constructed and stone crushing equipment will be put in place. It is hoped that demonstrations will be carried out in the quarry area on special events days and goods trains will service the quarry on Railway Weekend. On other days this will be a static attraction. |
