Paintwork for Benson’s Ark restored at Hollycombe – can we do this for you?

Hollycombe is able to offer an artwork restoration service for vintage items, any size/project considered. Latest project has been the recovery of a  Lakins Ark Speedway 'Bensons Ark', which has been in storage for 30 years – the front, paybox, pillars, horses and bikes have undergone extensive restoration at Hollycombe Working Steam Museum's Paint Shop.

The restored ride opened for business for Christmas at The Ice Factor, in York's Designer Outlet, on 24th November, following several weeks for extensive paintwork restoration at Hollycombe on behalf of its new owner.

Your last chance this year!

Don't miss your last chance this year to enjoy Hollycombe's unique Edwardian fairground rides before they undergo winter maintenance.

With two 'Halloween' themed Saturday evenings and one Sunday daytime opening remaining, now is your chance to ride the famous Razzle Dazzle, Golden Gallopers, unique steam-Chairoplanes and more before the winter shutdown when the rides are all taken down, tested and repaired for reopening at Easter 2013.

The Halloween evenings are a bit of fun and are intended to be a wee bit scary, but still great for all the family, especailly if you dress for the occasion as many of our staff will do.

You can take a ride on the railway and wonder what is lurking in the bushes; there are sure to be some strange sights and sounds!

Meanwhile, plans for our Christmas openings are well advanced, so why not have a look at what we have to offer and book up to bring the children, or grand children along?

Christmas at Hollycombe

This year, Hollycombe will be open on three weekends in December for children to come along and see Santa and receive a present.

The dates are: 8-9, 15-16 & 22-23 December.

Subject to weather conditions, we plan to run:

* The Quarry Railway with its spectacular views over the Sussex countryside.

* Miniature Railway rides

* Children's Rides

* Mulled Wine for the adults

* Mince Pies

* Christmas Carols played on a fairground organ . . . . & more

Cost – to include a valued present for the children – is £12 for children & £10 for adults.

You will be able to book soon either by using the booking form or online (both coming soon).

Please note that the Edwardian fairground and other rides will be closed for winter maintenance.

We look forward to seeing you

Classic Cars for Fair at Night

The evening of Saturday 22nd September will see a gathering of some 150 classic cars and other vehicles arrive at Hollycombe for the evening.

Organised by the Hampshire Regional Rover P5 Club, the event is open to any classic vehicle as long as they have booked with the club. Vehicles are expected to arrive from around 5.30, so visitors to Hollycombe for the evening fair can cvome early and look at the cars before it gets dark.

Steam Swings are back!

The popular Steam Swings, whic have been out of use while boiler repairs were doine to the engine, are now available for use once again.

This means that all of Hollycombe's fairground rides arfe serviceable once again, though they may not all be operated every open day.
